G2 SkewMond: "MSI Play-Ins Shaped Us — Now We Fight to Deserve Our Spot"
It’s been a whirlwind of emotion, learning, and high-stakes gameplay for G2 Esports at the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational. And right now, in the heart of the Play-In stage, jungler Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan is taking it all in — from hard lessons to hopeful aspirations. In his first major international appearance, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and the expectations couldn’t be louder. Coming off a difficult 0-3 loss to Bilibili Gaming, SkewMond isn’t sugarcoating the experience. "Not really satisfied, no," he admits. “We genuinely had chances to win those games. Especially the first two — it came down to small moments, a missed ability, a slightly mistimed decision. And against a team like BLG, that’s all it takes.”
Despite the loss, his mindset remains grounded and focused. “Every mistake is a lesson. That third game? Total stomp. I won’t hide from it. But the first two — we could’ve taken those. It’s about refining the details, learning from the loss, and not letting it crush our momentum.”

Tomorrow, they face GAM Esports in a decisive elimination match. SkewMond acknowledges the challenge GAM brings but sees it as a moment to prove themselves. “If we lose, it means we didn’t deserve to move forward. Simple as that. But if we win, it’s because we earned it. That’s what Play-Ins are for — they strip away excuses.”
What’s clear from SkewMond’s reflections is a growing maturity. He praises his teammates for their support, particularly as they rally around top-laner BrokenBlade, who’s had a rough showing so far. “We’re pros. We all see when one of us struggles. But instead of letting it bring us down, we lift each other up. That’s how we grow.”
This event marks not only a competitive milestone for SkewMond but a personal one too — his first time outside of Europe, and first taste of the global stage. “Vancouver’s been amazing. Even Media Day felt surreal. Riot makes those trailers, and being part of it — even silently — means something to me.”
When asked if this journey is just about experience, he’s clear: “No, we want to win. Of course, we gain from every match, but we’re not here just to soak it in. We’re here to compete, to go deep, to challenge the best teams in the world. That’s why tomorrow matters so much.”
G2 may be bruised, but they’re not broken. For SkewMond and the rest of the roster, the path forward is narrow but clear — adapt, improve, and prove that they belong on the main stage. The Play-Ins didn’t break their spirit; they sharpened it. Now, it’s time to fight for the spot they believe they’ve earned.
