Glastonbury 2025 Hit by Shocking Artist Cancellation Over Mental Health
It’s one of the most anticipated music festivals in the world, but this year Glastonbury is facing an unexpected turn. Bru-C, the Nottingham-born rapper whose high-octane set was set to ignite the Arcadia stage, has announced the cancellation of not just his Glastonbury appearance—but his entire 2025 tour schedule. And the reason behind this decision is one that resonates with a growing number of artists and fans alike: mental health.
In an emotional Instagram post, Bru-C—real name Josh Bruce—laid his heart bare, telling fans he’s stepping back from the spotlight to prioritize his well-being. “This is a really difficult thing for me to post, and one I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to,” he wrote. “I’m really sorry to announce I’m going to have to cancel all of my upcoming show commitments for 2025.”

Bru-C’s name has become synonymous with the energy and grit of the UK music scene since his 2015 debut. With chart-topping singles like No Excuses and multiple platinum records under his belt, his rise has been meteoric. His music blends raw lyricism with a relentless beat, earning him a dedicated fanbase and regular slots at major festivals, including Boardmasters and Glastonbury.
But behind the scenes, he’s been fighting a different battle. “Many of you know I’ve been struggling with mental health issues for some time now,” he admitted. “What I’ve been going through has got gradually worse over the last few years and I need to take another step back and try to get back to some kind of stable peace in my life.”
It’s a deeply personal message, and one that pulls the curtain back on the pressures of life as a touring artist. Despite his desire to keep pushing forward, Bru-C acknowledged the growing toll it was taking on him. “The last thing I want to do is let people down, especially those who have spent hard-earned money to come and see me. But I need to take this time to recover and get my life and health back on track.”
While he hasn’t given a timeline for his return, Bru-C assured fans he’s “seeking the right help and support” and focusing on “just being better.” The response from the music community has been overwhelmingly supportive. Artists like Example, DJ ShyFX, and Manchester’s Blizzard praised his honesty and strength in making such a difficult choice.
He’s not the only major act to alter plans before Glastonbury—legendary singer Sir Rod Stewart has also had to cancel several U.S. shows, although he’s still expected to perform in the iconic Sunday Legends slot at Worthy Farm.
Bru-C’s announcement is a sobering reminder that even those we see lighting up stages with charisma and confidence can struggle behind the scenes. His choice to step back is a powerful statement—that health, above all, must come first. And in doing so, he’s not only protecting his future, but perhaps encouraging others to do the same.
