Glastonbury 2025: Pack Your Wellies and Sun Cream, the Weather Is Anyone’s Guess
With just days left until Glastonbury Festival kicks off, the one question buzzing through every camper’s mind is: “What’s the weather going to do this year?” And honestly, it’s looking like a bit of everything—sun, rain, wind, and the usual festival unpredictability.
We’re coming off the back of a heatwave, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s going to be all sunshine and shorts. Westerly winds have swept in, temperatures have cooled down to a more comfortable 22°C, and the air feels fresher. Still, you’ll want to keep that waterproof jacket and sunscreen side by side. Because if you’re heading down on Wednesday when the gates open, brace yourself—there’s a chance of the wettest weather of the week arriving just in time.

A surge of warm, muggy air from the Bay of Biscay could collide with Atlantic rain bands, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms into the evening. It’s still just a risk for now, but don’t be surprised if your first night involves soggy socks and muddy pathways. That said, once we get past Wednesday night, the outlook improves. Thursday and Friday will be drier, though quite windy, with gusts up to 35mph—enough to test your tent pegs—but sunshine will start peeking through more frequently.
The weekend, thankfully, is when the magic could really shine through. Saturday and Sunday are shaping up to be the nicest days, with lighter south-westerly breezes, clearer skies, and temperatures climbing to a pleasant 25°C by Saturday afternoon. It might not be the legendary 31.7°C we had in 2017, but it’s festival-friendly, for sure.
Historically, Glastonbury has delivered some memorable weather extremes—think of 2005’s flash floods or the muddy chaos of 2007. Those who lived through “the Year of the Mud” in 1997 still tell tales of knee-deep sludge. Even 1987 was memorable for gale-force winds that tore tents from the ground. Yet, for many seasoned Glasto-goers, weather is just another part of the ride. Whether it’s dancing in a downpour or basking under the Pyramid Stage sun, the festival spirit always wins.
So, if you’re packing, bring everything. Literally. Sun hat, waterproofs, layers for the chilly nights (which will hover around 14–15°C), and wellies you can dance in. Glastonbury 2025 might start with a splash, but with a little luck, we’ll end on a sun-drenched high note. Whatever the sky throws our way, the music, the vibe, and the shared experience will make it all worth it. See you in the fields!
