Liberty Stay Undefeated With Dominant Win Over the Sky
The New York Liberty are on fire , and last night’s performance proved why they’re the team to beat in the WNBA right now. With their 85-66 win over the Chicago Sky, the Liberty pushed their perfect record to an impressive 9-0 — and made it look effortless.
It all started fast and fierce at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where New York came out blazing with a 12-0 run to open the game. The energy in the arena was electric, and that momentum carried through the entire night. Breanna Stewart and Nyara Sabally sparked that early burst with five points apiece, setting the tone right out of the gate. It was also a special night for Sabally, who made her first career WNBA start filling in for Jonquel Jones, who sat out with a right ankle injury. Sabally didn’t disappoint, putting up nine points and playing with confidence and poise.

But the star of the night? Sabrina Ionescu. She was everywhere — dropping 23 points, dishing out seven assists, and picking up four steals. Her performance was not just productive, it was dominant. Ionescu made nine of her 14 shots and looked completely in control, especially in a first quarter that ended with the Liberty leading 26-15.
Let’s not forget Kennedy Burke, who brought fire off the bench. Burke hit all three of her 3-point shots and totaled 15 points, giving the Liberty the kind of depth championship teams are made of. Leonie Fiebich also got in on the action with a timely three late in the second quarter that helped stretch the lead to 52-32 at halftime.
Chicago tried to rally behind Angel Reese, who had a standout game of her own with a season-high 17 points and 11 rebounds. But the Sky were clearly missing veteran Courtney Vandersloot, who’s now out for the season with a torn ACL. The team struggled with ball control, committing 22 turnovers — a number you just can’t have against a team like New York.
The Liberty kept their foot on the gas in the second half, at one point going on a 17-0 run that completely put the game out of reach. With French Open champion Coco Gauff sitting courtside and the home crowd loving every second, New York made a clear statement: this team is serious, sharp, and surging.
Right now, the Liberty are not just winning — they’re dominating. And if they keep playing like this, it’s hard to imagine anyone stopping them anytime soon.
