London Knights Crowned 2025 Memorial Cup Champions in Commanding Fashion
Wow, what a night for junior hockey fans! The London Knights have officially etched their name in Canadian Hockey League history once again, securing their third Memorial Cup title with a decisive 4-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers in Rimouski, Quebec. This wasn’t just a win—it was a statement. From the opening puck drop, the Knights showcased the speed, depth, and relentless pressure that’s defined their remarkable season.
Let’s talk about the stars of the show. Denver Barkey was simply electric, scoring twice and leading by example as team captain. Easton Cowan also found the back of the net and added to his legend by becoming the first player since 1972 to lead the Memorial Cup in scoring for two straight years. With seven points in this year’s tournament, Cowan now shares the franchise’s all-time Memorial Cup scoring record with none other than Mitch Marner—15 points over nine games. That’s elite company.

Defenseman Sam Dickinson was everywhere, racking up three assists and forcing key turnovers, including one that led to Barkey’s breakaway goal in the second period. And let’s not forget about goaltender Austin Elliott—31 saves, calm under pressure, and the backbone of this championship team.
The Tigers, who had beaten London in the round robin, came into the final rested after four days off. But the Knights weren’t interested in past results. They came out strong and never looked back, pouring on three goals in the second period to effectively put the game out of reach. Even when Medicine Hat pressed late, the Knights held firm. Gavin McKenna—one of the most exciting prospects in next year’s NHL Draft—managed to break the shutout early in the third, but it wasn’t enough.
The win also offers redemption. Last year, the Knights suffered a heartbreaking last-second loss in the final to the Saginaw Spirit. This time, they left no doubt. With 12 NHL-drafted players and a near-flawless regular season record of 55-11-2, London’s dominance was complete. This tournament performance now places them alongside the likes of the Kamloops Blazers and Windsor Spitfires as one of the CHL’s modern dynasties.
So here we are—celebrating a team that did everything right, a coaching staff that had their players ready, and a group of young men who played with heart, skill, and poise under the biggest spotlight in junior hockey. Congratulations to the London Knights, 2025 Memorial Cup Champions.
