NBC Cancels ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ After Just One Season
So, here's something that’s been making waves in the TV world lately—NBC has officially canceled Grosse Pointe Garden Society after just one season. Yeah, it's true. And no, it’s not even making the jump to Peacock. For those of us who got pulled into the twisty drama and those mysterious garden-club secrets, this news is definitely disappointing.

The show came from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, the same creators behind Good Girls , and had all the makings of a delicious, slow-burn suburban mystery. You had your polished garden parties, your buried secrets, and, of course, a murder that no one wanted to talk about. It was like Desperate Housewives meets Big Little Lies , with a cast that brought serious heat: Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King, AnnaSophia Robb, Ben Rappaport, and more. And just as we were getting invested, NBC pulled the plug.
Now, let’s be real—it wasn’t exactly burning up the ratings charts. The show struggled on Sundays and even after moving to Fridays (which gave it a little boost), it remained the lowest-rated scripted show on NBC’s lineup. Apparently, the network did consider moving it to Peacock where it was actually starting to trend in the Top 10. But ultimately, that plan fizzled. The streaming platform didn’t allocate the resources needed to pick it up, and cast contracts were about to expire, so NBC just let it go.
What’s really frustrating is that the show left us hanging with a major cliffhanger—who was behind that duck costume at the garden club’s Halloween party, and what exactly did they do? Fans were left craving answers, and now we may never get them.
Cast members have been sharing heartfelt goodbyes on social media. Melissa Fumero, who played Birdie, called it one of her favorite roles and said she was proud of what they built. AnnaSophia Robb thanked the cast and crew for the experience, while Ben Rappaport reminded us all that showbiz "ain’t for the faint of heart."
It’s always tough to see a promising show go before it finds its audience. Grosse Pointe Garden Society had potential. It was moody, stylish, and packed with scandal—and while it didn’t get the time to blossom fully, it definitely left an impression.
