Avatar: Seven HavensReveals a New Avatar in a Shattered World
So, the Avatar universe is back with a bang — and it’s taking us somewhere we’ve never been before. At San Diego Comic-Con, fans got their very first look at Avatar: Seven Havens , the newest animated series from Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios, and let’s just say, things are looking intense.
This new series picks up after the events of The Legend of Korra and introduces us to a brand-new Avatar — and here’s the twist: she’s an Earthbender. The story follows a pair of twins, and when one of them discovers she’s the next Avatar, everything changes. But this isn't your typical hero’s journey. The world she’s born into has already been ravaged by a massive cataclysm. Civilization is hanging on by a thread, and instead of being seen as a symbol of hope, this new Avatar is feared — even blamed — as a possible bringer of destruction.
We were shown a first-look image featuring the young Avatar walking through a desert landscape. She’s got a creature by her side — kind of a mix between a cat and a lemur — and a friend traveling with her. In the distance, a city can be seen, lit by strange, mysterious lights, setting a very eerie, otherworldly tone for what’s to come.

The show’s creative team, including Avatar co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, shared that the series has its own unique visual style but still keeps that familiar Avatar soul. They’ve brought back composer Jeremy Zuckerman too, which means the soundtrack will likely hit all the right emotional notes.
And the excitement doesn’t stop with the show — an Avatar movie titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Avatar is also in the works and is slated to hit theaters in October 2026. That film will feature a new cast, including Eric Nam as Aang and Jessica Matten as Katara, and promises to explore even more corners of this beloved world.
