Chicago Sky Aims to Snap Losing Streak in Tough Clash Against Seattle Storm

So tonight’s a big one for the Chicago Sky as they take on the Seattle Storm, and the energy around this game is pretty intense—not because it's a long-standing rivalry, but because Chicago really needs a win right now. The Sky are heading into this matchup on a three-game losing streak, and let’s be honest, they’ve had a tough run this season overall. They currently sit at 7-16 and are just 1-9 in the Eastern Conference, so the pressure is definitely building.

Now, what’s interesting is that this will be the first time this season these two teams face each other, and both squads are walking into this game with something to prove. The Storm are doing a bit better overall—they're sitting at 14-10 and holding a 9-6 record in the Western Conference. They’ve been decent on the road too, with a 6-5 record away from home.

As for Chicago, they’ve had some solid moments—especially when it comes to rebounding. In fact, they’re second-best in the East for boards, pulling in an average of 36.6 per game. And let’s give credit where it's due: Angel Reese has been a standout force. She’s averaging 12.5 rebounds and scoring nearly 14 points per game. She’s been consistently grinding it out, even when the scoreboard hasn’t gone their way.

Seattle, on the other hand, leans on players like Nneka Ogwumike, who’s been putting up 17.3 points a night and averaging 7.5 rebounds. Then there’s Erica Wheeler, who’s been heating up from beyond the arc, knocking down two three-pointers a game over her last 10 appearances. So they’ve got some serious firepower and a well-balanced team on both ends.

When you look at the stats, Chicago’s averaging about 77.6 points per game, which is just under what Seattle allows (78.5). But the Sky’s defense has struggled, giving up 86.5 points on average. That’s a gap they’ll really need to close if they want any shot at snapping this losing streak.

To make things even tougher, the Sky are without star Courtney Vandersloot, who’s out for the season with an ACL injury. Seattle’s dealing with their own hit too—Katie Lou Samuelson is sidelined with a knee injury.

So with both teams not quite at full strength, tonight’s game is really going to come down to who executes better and who wants it more. Can the Sky finally turn the tide and pull off a win at home? We’re about to find out.
