Crows Ready for a Finals-Like Showdown at Adelaide Oval
Adelaide is all set for one of the most anticipated clashes of the season—Showdown 58—going head-to-head with their fierce crosstown rival, Port Adelaide, this Saturday night at Adelaide Oval. And let me tell you, this isn’t just another game. The energy, the rivalry, the stakes—it’s all dialed up to eleven.
The Crows are entering this one with a solid streak of four wins in a row and, perhaps more importantly, the confidence that comes with having already beaten Port earlier this season. They’re chasing their fifth straight win and their second Showdown win of the year—and they've named an unchanged line-up to try and get the job done.

One of the key players to watch will be Mitch Hinge. He had everyone holding their breath last week after being subbed out against the Suns with a corked hip, but the good news is he’s recovered and has been named on the bench. He’ll be joined there by Zac Taylor, Luke Pedlar, Chayce Jones, and Jake Soligo. As usual, the Crows will confirm their final substitute just one hour before bounce at 6:40pm ACST.
Brayden Cook, Brodie Smith, and Chris Burgess are named as emergencies, just in case any last-minute changes are needed.
What adds a beautiful touch to the game is the celebration of three player milestones. Captain Jordan Dawson is set to play his 150th game—a huge achievement. Isaac Cumming will notch up his 100th appearance, and Mark Keane plays his 50th. All three will no doubt want to make it a night to remember.
Crows coach Matthew Nicks spoke to the media midweek, standing proudly beside the Variety SA Showdown Shield, and made it clear that this game is expected to have a real finals-type intensity. According to Nicks, there’s rarely a Showdown that doesn’t feel like finals footy, and he sees this as the perfect moment to test his team in the toughest conditions. "There’s no harder game than this," he said—and honestly, he’s not wrong.
It’s a massive night for South Australian footy, with the city divided and bragging rights on the line. The stage is set, the crowd will be roaring, and if history’s anything to go by, we’re in for a classic. Showdown 58 kicks off at 7:40pm at Adelaide Oval—and there are still a few tickets left if you’re lucky.
