Heat Warning Issued Again in Toronto as Storms Threaten Weekend
Alright, here’s what’s happening in Toronto right now—it’s another scorcher, and this time it’s not just the heat we need to worry about. Toronto has been placed under a second heat warning in just one week. The city’s already been sweating under intense temperatures, and now it looks like a fresh wave of heat and humidity is settling in—starting Sunday and possibly lasting all the way through to Wednesday.
According to Environment Canada, we’re looking at daytime highs in the low 30s, but with the humidity factored in, it could feel like it’s in the low 40s. That’s the kind of heat that doesn’t just make you uncomfortable—it can be dangerous. The hottest stretch is expected on Monday, but the entire multi-day event poses risks to public health, especially for vulnerable groups.

What’s making it more concerning is that the air is already thick and heavy, and now there’s a 60% chance of thunderstorms tonight, Saturday. So not only is it hot, but the skies could open up as well. Cloud cover is expected to roll in this evening, and if storms do hit, they could be quite intense.
Now, officials are urging everyone to stay alert and take precautions. If you or someone around you is more at risk—like older adults, people who live alone, or those with underlying health conditions—make sure you check on them. Do it in person or at least give them a call a few times a day. It could make a real difference.
The warning signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion should not be ignored. Things like red, hot skin, dizziness, confusion, and nausea are red flags. If someone’s showing those signs, call 911 immediately and do your best to cool them down while you wait for help. Heat exhaustion has similar symptoms, including dark urine and extreme fatigue, and it can quickly escalate if not addressed.
The weather won’t ease up immediately either. Sunday’s forecast includes a chance of early morning showers, followed by clearer skies and a high of 30°C—but again, it’ll feel closer to 35. The heat will persist into Monday and Tuesday, with slight chances of rain and nightly lows staying in the 20s until midweek.
The good news? Relief is expected by Thursday, when clearer skies and slightly cooler temperatures are forecasted. But until then, staying cool, hydrated, and aware is the best defense against what could be a very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous few days.
