Kirsten Storms Temporarily Replaced onGeneral Hospitalas Maxie Jones
Hey everyone, I’ve got some interesting news for all the General Hospital fans out there—especially if you’ve been following Maxie Jones over the years. On the July 3rd episode, we saw a bit of a shakeup that caught many viewers by surprise: Kirsten Storms, who’s played Maxie for the past 20 years, was temporarily replaced by actress Nicole Paggi.

Now before you panic or assume it’s a permanent change—no, it’s not. This is just a short-term fill-in. According to a spokesperson from the show, Kirsten had a scheduling conflict, and that’s the only reason Paggi stepped in. In fact, this isn’t Nicole’s first time playing Maxie. She filled in once before, back in December 2023. Some of you might recognize her from other shows like 9-1-1 , The Rookie: Feds , and 90210 .
Kirsten’s journey with General Hospital started in 2005, and believe it or not, she was actually a recast herself—taking over from Robyn Richards. Over the years, there have been other temporary replacements for her too. Jen Lilley filled in back in 2011–2012, and Molly Burnett stepped in during 2016 and 2018. So this kind of temporary swap isn’t new for fans of the soap.
Interestingly, Storms recently reflected on what it was like to take on the role of Maxie two decades ago. She said she knew she would have to make the character her own—and expected some fans wouldn’t love the change at first. But she approached it with confidence and determination, believing that giving 100% to the role would win people over. She also admitted that back then, as a young actress, dealing with criticism on the internet was tough—but over time, she developed thicker skin and stopped taking it all so personally.
As for the current temporary change, fans will see Nicole Paggi again in episodes airing on July 30 and August 13. But don’t worry—Kirsten Storms is confirmed to return the week of August 18.
So yes, Maxie’s face might look a little different for a few episodes, but Kirsten isn’t going anywhere. Just a temporary twist in classic soap opera fashion!
