Alright, if you’re a country music fan or a NASCAR enthusiast—or better yet, both—this is one of those rare moments where two worlds collide in the best way possible. Luke Combs, the country music powerhouse from North Carolina, just dropped the music video for his brand-new song “Back in the Saddle,” and let me tell you—it’s got horsepower in more ways than one.

Set at the iconic Tri-County Motor Speedway in Caldwell County, North Carolina, the video brings a whole new level of authenticity and grit, thanks to a couple of very special guest stars: NASCAR legends Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Richard Petty. Yep, that’s right— Junior and The King are in a country music video, and it’s just as awesome as it sounds.

So here’s how it all came together. Dale Jr. revealed on his podcast, The Dale Jr. Download , that Luke Combs personally texted him to ask if he wanted to be in the video. At first, they tossed around the idea of filming at Charlotte Motor Speedway using a NextGen car. But when those cars weren’t available, Earnhardt suggested they pivot to a short track setup—something that would really shine a light on grassroots racing. That’s how they landed on Tri-County Motor Speedway, which, fun fact, is only about an hour or so from where Combs went to high school.

Filming was no small production. Dale Jr. helped wrap two late-model cars to look identical—one tricked out with cameras and another used for distance shots. He even did hard laps around the track while Combs was filmed in the grandstand, flagstand, and walking around the venue. According to Earnhardt, it was an “honor” to be a part of it—and from the energy of the final cut, that enthusiasm clearly made it onto the screen.

And just when you think it couldn’t get more legendary, in comes Richard Petty at the end of the video with his signature grin and a line that pretty much sums it up: “My turn. I want to drive.” That’s the kind of moment that gives goosebumps to longtime racing fans.

The video officially dropped at midnight on July 25 and immediately started racking up views and fan comments on YouTube. Some are already calling it the summer anthem, and others are praising the tribute to racing heritage, especially with subtle nods to Dale Sr.—including a quote painted on the track’s entryway.

And in a cool twist, Dale Jr. will be literally back in the saddle next month when he races a Budweiser-sponsored No. 8 car—sporting his old baseball-themed paint scheme—at Anderson Motor Speedway on August 16.

Bottom line: this isn’t just a music video—it’s a celebration of roots, racing, and real country storytelling. If you haven’t watched it yet, saddle up and check it out.
