Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Monash Freeway Crash
Today’s been marked by a devastating accident on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway that’s left a motorbike rider fighting for their life. Just before 1pm this Saturday, emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious collision near the Wellington Road exit at Wheelers Hill — an incident that’s sent shockwaves through the community and caused major traffic chaos.
From what’s been confirmed, the crash involved a motorbike and a car, and it happened at about 12:47pm. There were actually two motorcyclists riding together at the time. One of them was critically injured in the crash and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second rider, while not physically hurt, was arrested by police at the scene and is now set to be interviewed in connection with the incident.

The driver of the car involved did the right thing and remained at the scene after the accident. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area altogether. If you’re heading in that direction, you’re better off using alternate routes like Ferntree Gully Road, Springvale Road, or Wellington Road to re-enter the freeway. You can also exit earlier at Forster Road or Blackburn Road if you're trying to reach Wellington. For those heading toward the city, Police Road or the Princes Highway might be your best bet.
