Pakistan Collapse to Historic Low as Bangladesh Shine in T20I Opener
Wow, what a shocker we witnessed in Dhaka! If you’re just tuning into the cricket world, Pakistan’s T20I campaign against Bangladesh got off to a disastrous start—and that’s putting it mildly. In what can only be described as a humiliating performance, Pakistan posted their lowest-ever T20I total against Bangladesh, collapsing to just 110 runs in 19.3 overs. Yes, you heard that right—just 110!
Credit must go to the Bangladesh pace attack, particularly Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman , who were absolutely relentless with the ball. Taskin picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Mustafizur was incredibly economical, giving away just 6 runs in his four overs and bagging 2 crucial wickets. Pakistan simply had no answers.

The Pakistani innings unraveled rapidly. Within the first eight overs, they had already lost half their side for just 46 runs. Batsmen like Saim Ayub , Mohammad Haris , Salman Agha , Hasan Nawaz , and Mohammad Nawaz all fell without making any real impact. The only glimmer of hope came from Fakhar Zaman , who top-scored with 44 off 34 balls. He was given two lives—on 4 and then again on 30—but even he couldn’t steer the ship. A mix-up with Khushdil Shah led to his run-out, and that pretty much sealed Pakistan’s fate.
Bangladesh, in contrast, looked composed and confident while chasing. Despite losing a couple of early wickets, opener Parvez Hossain took charge and remained unbeaten on 56 off just 39 balls, including five towering sixes and three boundaries. He, along with Towhid Hridoy (who scored 36), stitched together a match-winning 73-run partnership that made the chase look effortless. Bangladesh wrapped up the match in just 15.3 overs, sealing a comfortable seven-wicket victory .
This was only Bangladesh’s fourth win over Pakistan in 23 T20Is, but boy, did they make it count. The energy, the execution, and the discipline—everything clicked for the Tigers on home soil.
Pakistan captain Salman Agha admitted after the match that they just didn’t have enough runs on the board and kept losing wickets at the wrong times. There’s clearly a lot for the team to think about ahead of the next two games in Dhaka. On the other side, Bangladesh will look to carry this momentum into the second T20I, scheduled for Tuesday.
If this opener was any indication, the rest of the series might be full of surprises—and Pakistan better come prepared, or this could turn into a nightmare tour.
