Prayers Needed: Actor Lotfy Labib's Health Takes a Critical Turn
In deeply concerning news for fans of Egyptian cinema, beloved veteran actor Lotfy Labib has been hospitalized once again, with his condition described as critical and in need of what’s being called “a miracle.”
This heartbreaking update came from Father Botros Daniel, head of the Catholic Center for Cinema, during a live phone-in to the Egyptian TV show El Setat , hosted by Suheir Gouda and Mofeeda Shiha. In his words, “Last time, doctors said what happened was a miracle... this time, we need another one. People’s prayers are urgently needed.”

Lotfy Labib, who had previously shown signs of recovery and even been discharged from the hospital, was advised to rest and avoid speaking too much to protect his health. But his kind heart got the best of him. Out of genuine affection, he kept responding to calls and messages from friends and fans—something that unfortunately may have strained his condition. Sadly, the health crisis returned, and he was moved back into the intensive care unit.
Father Botros expressed the emotional weight of the moment, saying, “A man with this much kindness deserves nothing less than our sincere prayers. May God reward him with healing, and return to him his strength, his voice, and the laughter that has brought joy to so many.”
Shortly after, the Egyptian Actors Syndicate, led by Dr. Ashraf Zaki, issued an official statement confirming the news of Labib’s deteriorating health and re-admittance to ICU. Dr. Zaki emphasized the seriousness of the situation, calling on everyone to pray for Labib, who is currently going through a very delicate stage.
Lotfy Labib is known not only for his prolific film and television career—with over 100 roles across four decades—but also for his deep humility, warm demeanor, and that instantly recognizable presence on screen. His most recent work included the film Ana W Ibn Khalti , alongside a talented cast including Bayoumi Fouad, Henedy Mehanna, and Sayed Ragab.
Today, fans across Egypt and the Arab world are united in hope and prayer for this extraordinary man. At 77, Lotfy Labib remains a cherished figure, someone whose performances have spanned generations and whose humanity shines just as brightly off-screen.
Let’s keep him in our thoughts and hope he once again pulls through.
