PS Plus Brings Dark Twists and Survival Thrills This August
Alright, let’s talk about the PlayStation Plus monthly games for August 2025, because this lineup is stacked . If you’re a PS Plus member, starting August 5th, three very different but equally exciting titles are being added to your library: Lies of P , Day Z , and My Hero One’s Justice 2 . Whether you’re into dark, challenging action, tense survival gameplay, or anime-fueled brawls, this month has something for you.

Let’s start with Lies of P . This game has been getting a lot of love lately—and for good reason. It’s often described as one of the best Soulslike games outside of FromSoftware’s own catalog. Developed by NEOWIZ, Lies of P gives a very twisted take on Pinocchio . Yeah, that Pinocchio. But forget Disney—this version is dark, gritty, and set in a Belle Époque-inspired city called Krat, where humanity has pretty much collapsed and deadly puppets roam the streets. You play as Pinocchio, fighting your way through a nightmarish world with customizable weapons and powerful robotic arms called Legion Arms. The game has deep lore, brutal boss fights, and choices that involve—you guessed it—lying. It’s absolutely a must-play, especially for Bloodborne fans still holding out hope for a sequel.
Then we have Day Z , a hardcore survival game that drops you into a bleak, post-apocalyptic world with up to 60 players. There are no checkpoints, no saves—when you die, that’s it. You start from scratch. The game features massive open maps like Chernarus and Livonia, where you have to manage everything from hunger to health, all while avoiding infected enemies and other players. The tension in this game is real, and if you’re into open-ended survival experiences, this one will grab you.
Rounding out the lineup is My Hero One’s Justice 2 , a fast-paced 3D arena fighter based on the wildly popular anime My Hero Academia . If you’ve ever wanted to take control of your favorite characters and unleash Quirk-powered chaos across destructible arenas, this game delivers. It’s flashy, fun, and perfect for fans of the show or just anyone looking for over-the-top anime action.
Also worth noting—this month marks the 15th anniversary of PlayStation Plus, and Sony’s celebrating by giving away a special set of anniversary avatars for free. These include art from hits like Cyberpunk 2077 , God of War Ragnarök , and Twisted Metal , available to members starting August 5th.
So yeah, August’s lineup is not just decent—it’s genuinely exciting. Just make sure to grab July’s games, including Diablo IV and Jusant , before August 4th, because after that, they’re gone.
PlayStation Plus is definitely on a roll this year—and hopefully, it stays that way.
