Now, Johansson takes on the role of Zora Bennett, a battle-hardened mercenary on a mission to recover dinosaur DNA from a dangerous, off-limits island. The movie is packed with action, danger, and of course, plenty of prehistoric creatures. But what made this shoot truly intense wasn’t just the fictional dinosaurs—it was the very real and very wild jungle environment the cast and crew had to endure.
Scarlett explained that filming on location in places like Thailand and Malta wasn’t just for show. They were deep in the jungle—rain, mud, bugs, and all. And let’s just say, Scarlett had to face more than a few personal fears. “My biggest phobia is cockroaches,” she admitted, and unfortunately for her, they were everywhere. Add to that the presence of scorpions casually turning up at the coffee table on set, and it’s clear this shoot was not for the faint-hearted.
From scaling massive rock walls to wading through monsoon downpours, Johansson’s experience was a far cry from the comfort of a typical studio set. “Every day I wished I was on a traditional set,” she joked. “I’m a city girl. I’m from New York. This was the exact opposite.” But despite the hardships, she embraced it all with humor and determination.
She even joked that harassing producer Frank Marshall enough finally got her the gig. That persistence clearly paid off, and now she’s etched her name into the legacy of one of cinema’s most beloved franchises.
