Sky Seek Redemption as Fever Eye Playoff Push Without Clark
The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever are squaring off again this Sunday afternoon at the United Center, and there’s a lot more on the line than just bragging rights. This will be their third meeting of the season, and if the past two games are any indication, Indiana seems to have the Sky’s number. Chicago has not only dropped both previous matchups, but they were blowouts—by 35 and 27 points. Now, coming off their worst loss of the season, a 95-57 drubbing by the Seattle Storm, the Sky are looking to bounce back. But it won’t be easy.
Angel Reese, Chicago’s All-Star forward and clear standout this season, is currently day-to-day with a back injury that sidelined her in that brutal loss to Seattle. She’s been playing some of her best basketball lately—averaging over 17 points, nearly 15 rebounds, and a solid four assists over the past 10 games. Her status for this Sunday is still up in the air, and the Sky desperately need her if they want to stop their current four-game skid.

Also missing in action for Chicago is Ariel Atkins, out with a leg injury, which only makes things tougher. Without those two, it’s been a challenge for the Sky to find rhythm on either end of the floor. Against Seattle, they committed 19 turnovers and made only 21 shots in total. That kind of performance just isn’t going to cut it, especially against a team like Indiana that’s hungry to stay in the playoff race.
Speaking of the Fever, they’ve got their own challenges—mainly the absence of superstar rookie Caitlin Clark. Clark is out with a groin injury and remains without a timetable for return. It’s her fourth separate muscle injury of the season, which is especially surprising considering she didn’t miss a single game in college or during her rookie WNBA year. Even so, Indiana has held it together. Kelsey Mitchell stepped up with 21 points in a recent win over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces, and Aliyah Boston continues to prove she’s one of the league’s elite bigs.
So, what does this all mean? Chicago’s playoff hopes are fading fast at 7-17, and if they can’t pull off a win against a Clark-less Fever, the hill only gets steeper. For Indiana, every win without Clark is crucial, especially with fewer than 20 games left in the regular season. The game tips off at 3 p.m. ET on ABC and is also streaming on Fubo and ESPN+. Whether you're watching from home or heading to the arena, this one’s a must-see—if not for the playoff implications, then definitely for the pride on the line.
