Wimbledon 2025 Heats Up: Fritz Dominates, Kartal Impresses, Big Names Await
What a day it’s shaping up to be at Wimbledon 2025! The fourth round is officially underway, and the drama, passion, and class are already taking center stage across the courts. Let’s start with Taylor Fritz – the American fifth seed absolutely stormed through his match against Jordan Thompson, taking the first set 6-1 and going up 3-0 in the second before Thompson, unfortunately, had to retire. It’s a bittersweet win for Fritz, who said afterward that it wasn’t the way he wanted to progress. Still, he respected Thompson for even stepping out onto the court after grueling five-set matches and a tough doubles run. Fritz now gets some much-needed rest and prepares to face Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals.
Speaking of Khachanov, he delivered a dominant performance earlier in the day against Kamil Majchrzak. The Russian 17th seed took the match in straight sets – 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 – showcasing powerful baseline play and solid movement on the grass, despite a slip under the net that gave everyone a scare. He’s clearly found his rhythm on this surface, a big shift from his previous discomfort on grass. He’ll need that confidence when he faces Fritz next – a matchup that promises some heavy-hitting tennis.

Meanwhile, on Centre Court, all eyes were on Sonay Kartal, who showed incredible composure and tactical awareness against the experienced Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Kartal may not be known for raw power, but her hands and shot placement were top-class. She recovered from an early break to go up 3-2, showing great fight and a real feel for the big stage. Although Pavlyuchenkova managed to level things at 3-3, Kartal kept pushing, breaking back quickly and refusing to back down.
And let’s not forget what’s still to come today. Big names like Aryna Sabalenka, Cameron Norrie, and Carlos Alcaraz are yet to take the court. With the rain playing hide and seek, the roofs are doing overtime, but the energy remains high. There’s a real buzz around the grounds – you can feel that we’re entering the business end of the tournament.
From tactical battles and player superstitions to unexpected rain delays and emotional exits, this year’s Wimbledon is delivering everything you’d hope for. As we head into the later stages, the matches are only going to get tighter and the stakes higher. Stay tuned – Wimbledon 2025 is only just heating up.
