Woolworths Truck Stolen in Shocking Armed Carjacking and Chase Across Sydney

Hey everyone, let me tell you about something absolutely wild that just unfolded across Sydney — it's the kind of story you’d think only happens in movies, but this was very real.

Early yesterday morning, around 5:45 am, a Woolworths delivery driver was just getting started with his usual grocery run in Bankstown when things took a dangerous turn. A man allegedly approached him on Olympic Parade, attacked him with a stun device, and physically assaulted him. The attacker then stole the Woolworths truck, leaving the 23-year-old driver injured. Thankfully, he received immediate care — first at Bankstown Police Station and later at Bankstown Hospital.

Police wasted no time responding. By around 9:00 am, officers from St George Police Area Command spotted the stolen truck driving along the Princes Highway in Rockdale. They tried to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop. What followed was a high-speed chase that zigzagged through Wolli Creek, where the truck reportedly hit four parked cars — and still didn’t stop. Due to safety concerns, the police had to temporarily call off the chase, but the truck was tracked by helicopter.

The runaway vehicle kept going west, tearing down the M8 and then the M4. It wasn’t until it reached Glenbrook, on the Great Western Highway, that police were able to safely stop the truck using road spikes. At that point, specialist police units, including the Dog Unit and Riot Squad, moved in. The suspect, a 29-year-old man, was taken down with the help of a Taser and arrested on the spot.

He was taken to Nepean Hospital to treat minor injuries before being moved to Penrith Police Station. Authorities didn’t waste any time charging him with multiple serious offenses. These include robbery with an offensive weapon, dangerous driving during a police pursuit, driving while disqualified, resisting arrest, and possession of a false identity plate. Oh, and let's not forget — using a weapon to avoid arrest. He’s been refused bail and is appearing in court today.

It’s absolutely shocking how something as routine as a grocery delivery turned into a dramatic carjacking and chase that spanned across the city into the Blue Mountains. The fact that no one else was seriously injured during the pursuit is a huge relief. But it also raises concerns about safety for frontline workers, especially those out there making deliveries every single day.

This incident is a serious reminder of how unpredictable the world can be, and just how quickly law enforcement has to react when public safety is on the line. Let’s hope the driver makes a full recovery — and that justice is served swiftly.
