115 Years of Fun: The 2025 PNE Brings New Tastes, Thrills, and Shows

Vancouver’s beloved summer tradition, the Pacific National Exhibition, is back this weekend, running from August 16 to September 1, and it’s promising more excitement than ever. For 115 years, the PNE has been the place where the end of summer is celebrated with food, music, rides, and unforgettable entertainment, and this year is no exception.

While the brand-new amphitheatre won’t open until next summer, the iconic Pacific Coliseum will once again host the Summer Nights concerts. Big names like Counting Crows, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Leon Bridges, Gipsy Kings, and Flo Rida will take the stage, with tickets starting at $59.25 — fair admission included.

Food lovers are in for a treat with a new focus on wine pairings. Imagine biting into a juicy onion-filled burger from Jimmy’s Lunch while sipping a rich cabernet sauvignon, or enjoying cinnamon mini doughnuts with a bubbly sparkling wine. The menu, crafted by executive chef Andy Chong and wine expert Carissa Palangio, includes creative dishes like Lobster Tail Poutine, Buffaloed chicken, and the bacon-topped Lumberjack Stack.

Art takes a sandy twist with the debut of Sands of Wonder, where world-class sculptors will transform massive piles of sand into intricate creations before visitors’ eyes. The fair also welcomes back fan favourites like the SuperDogs, now in a country-themed “Wild Wild Woof” show, and thrilling stunt acts like the I-Flip aerial performance and The Flying Fools High Dive Show.

The PNE is also celebrating Indigenous culture through the Tatus Festival on August 29 and 30, showcasing 127 Indigenous artists, live music, food trucks, and an art marketplace — part of the fair-long Canoe Cultures activation. For those looking for a more laid-back vibe, the Roadhouse Patio & Bar offers happy hour drinks, the interactive Dueling Piano Kings, and a dazzling “For the Love of Drag” show.

As the sun sets, the nightly Remix Inferno “pyro music spectacular” lights up the Freedom Mobile Stage with fire, dancers, and non-stop mashups. And while the grand prize home is located in Langley this year, visitors can take a virtual tour before buying a lottery ticket for a chance to win it, along with other luxury prizes.

Of course, no PNE is complete without a trip to Farm Country, where families can enjoy pig races, pony rides, magic shows, and archery. To make getting there easier, TransLink is once again running special bus services, with two-for-one admission deals on select Fridays for riders who show proof of fare.

From wine pairings to high-flying stunts, the 2025 PNE is set to offer something for everyone — and all in the spirit of “115 years of fun.”
