Achraf Hakimi Faces Possible Trial Over Rape Allegation

So here's the latest update involving PSG footballer Achraf Hakimi—it's a story that’s resurfacing and making headlines again. The French publication Le Parisien just reported that the Nanterre prosecutor's office has formally requested Hakimi be indicted and potentially brought to trial over an alleged rape case that dates back to early 2023.

Now, let me walk you through what’s known so far.

The accusation stems from an incident said to have occurred in February 2023, when a 24-year-old woman filed a police report claiming that she had been sexually assaulted at Hakimi’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt. According to her account, she and Hakimi had been chatting on Instagram for a while before he arranged for a private car to bring her to his house. Once there, she says things escalated without her consent—claiming he kissed her and touched her without permission, and eventually forced a sexual encounter. She said she managed to push him away and quickly left, contacting a friend immediately after, who confirmed her distressed state to authorities.

Hakimi, for his part, has consistently denied all allegations. He insists the encounter was consensual and has maintained that this was an attempt to blackmail him. In fact, back in January 2025, he publicly stated in an interview that success often makes you a target, and that he believes this situation was orchestrated to harm his career and reputation.

Despite his denial, the judicial process has moved forward. A face-to-face meeting between Hakimi and the accuser was held last December, during which the woman stood by her claims. The prosecution now believes there’s enough evidence to bring the case to trial, and a judge will soon decide whether to move ahead.

If indicted and later convicted, Hakimi could face up to 15 years in prison under French law. For now, he remains under judicial supervision.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain has shown consistent support for their player, stating they have full confidence in the justice system. Hakimi has continued playing and training, even sharing glimpses of his luxurious vacations and workouts on social media, alongside teammate Kylian Mbappé.

But this situation casts a long shadow over everything. Whether the case goes to trial will depend on the judge’s next steps. It’s a legal process that could stretch out for months, if not longer—and its outcome could drastically affect the trajectory of Hakimi’s personal and professional life.
