Barcelona Thrashes Daegu in a Rainy Preseason Showcase
So, here’s what happened today in Daegu, South Korea—Barcelona just wrapped up their Asian preseason tour in style with a dominant 4–0 win over Daegu FC, and honestly, it was one of those games where the difference in level was crystal clear from start to finish.
The match kicked off under a cloud—literally. Fireworks had left a smoke haze lingering over the pitch, and then mid-game, heavy rain started pouring down. But even the weather couldn’t slow Barça down. From the very beginning, Hansi Flick’s team had control. It didn’t take long for the pressure to turn into goals.
Gavi was on absolute fire. He opened the scoring with a classy left-footed strike after a slick assist from Lamine Yamal, who had already been tormenting Daegu’s defense with his dribbles. Then came Lewandowski with the second—this one after several chances—finally putting it away with a textbook finish at the far post.

But Gavi wasn’t done yet. Just before halftime, he bagged his second goal with a cheeky little chip over the goalkeeper. Three-nil before the break. At that point, it was clear Daegu were just trying to hold on.
In the second half, despite wholesale changes by both teams, Barcelona didn’t let up. The highlight was a beautifully worked goal involving Dani Olmo and Marcus Rashford that ended with a perfect finish from young Toni Fernández, who made it 4–0. It was a great moment for the 18-year-old and capped off an excellent team performance.
Lamine Yamal, though, deserves a special mention. He didn’t score, but he caused constant chaos down the right wing and had a few moments that brought the crowd to its feet. One play in particular, where he weaved through multiple defenders, could’ve been the goal of the summer if it had ended in the net. You can tell the club is really counting on him this season, especially now that he’s wearing the number 10 shirt.
And speaking of youngsters—Dro, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder, also got his first start. He looked sharp, building on his debut goal earlier in the tour. Hansi Flick clearly trusts him, and the kid’s composure was beyond his years.
With this win, Barcelona closes out their Asian tour undefeated. Next up? They’ll head back to Spain to face Como in the Gamper Trophy on August 10. But today in Daegu, it was all about control, flair, and a glimpse of the exciting new Barça under Flick’s command.
