Connor Rozee Shuts Down “Disgusting” Rumour and Calls for Accountability
Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee has taken a firm and public stand against a deeply hurtful rumour about his personal life, making it clear that not a shred of truth exists in the claims. The false story, which had been gaining traction in recent weeks online, was described by Rozee as “pretty disgusting” and “completely made up.” Speaking on SEN Breakfast with Kane Cornes, the Power skipper addressed the speculation head-on, making sure no doubt remained.
He explained that the rumour had not only affected him, but also his wife, family, and people within his wider football circle. In his words, it was disappointing to see that some players from other clubs and acquaintances had repeated the unfounded claims, turning gossip into something far more damaging. Rozee stressed that family matters should never be dragged into jokes or malicious talk, as the impact on loved ones—especially those outside the public spotlight—can be far greater than on the player himself.

For those who may still have wondered, Rozee firmly stated that he and his wife are “amazing” and “have never been better,” and that his relationships at the club remain strong. He called for the matter to be put to rest once and for all, saying it had “got a bit out of hand” and was “not okay.”
The 25-year-old, who married his long-time partner Maisie Packer in October last year, didn’t hide his desire to see the origin of the rumour uncovered. He expressed hope that the person responsible would be held accountable, describing it as a disgrace that someone could fabricate such a story. According to Rozee, the AFL’s integrity unit is already investigating the matter.
He acknowledged that the modern online environment makes it easy for people to hide behind fake accounts and say whatever they want without consequences, but he remains optimistic that truth and accountability can still prevail. For Rozee, the most important thing now is that his family is okay and ready to move forward.
With the controversy addressed, Rozee and the Power are focused on closing out their 2025 AFL season on a high note, with upcoming matches against Carlton and Gold Coast. But the message he sent to the football community and beyond was unmistakable: rumours that target people’s families cross a line that should never be approached, let alone crossed. This was not just about denying a falsehood—it was about standing up against the culture that allows such things to spread unchecked.
