Demi Sims Trades Reality TV for the Boxing Ring

Demi Sims, best known for her time on The Only Way is Essex , has swapped late nights and cocktails for an intense life of boxing training. The 28-year-old reality star is making her professional debut in Manchester, stepping into the ring at Misfits 22 against fellow celebrity Nadeshi Hopkins. It’s a dramatic transformation for someone once associated with glamorous nights out, but Demi insists this new lifestyle has completely reshaped her.

She has not taken this step alone. Joining her in the spotlight is her cousin, Joey Essex, another familiar face from TOWIE. Both cousins are debuting on the same card, and both are under the guidance of Demi’s father, Tony Sims. Tony is no ordinary trainer—he has coached elite boxers, including Conor Benn and at one time, Anthony Joshua. With that kind of pedigree in their corner, the Essex pair are being pushed harder than ever before.

Demi explained that boxing has forced her into a strict routine. Gone are the days of indulgence and easy living—now it’s early mornings, nutrition plans, and two sessions of training a day. Alcohol is completely off the table, nights out have vanished, and every decision revolves around performance in the ring. She admitted that it has been a huge shift, but also one that has given her a new sense of drive and focus. “It’s changed my whole life,” she reflected, comparing her past filled with social outings to her present world of relentless discipline.

Joey, at 35, is also embracing the challenge. He confessed that while he had dabbled in boxing over the years, the last several weeks of concentrated training have taught him more than years of casual workouts ever did. Under Tony’s watchful eye, both cousins have been “fast-tracked” into shape, and Joey admitted that the experience has left him feeling stronger and more capable than ever.

On fight night, Joey will face Portuguese influencer Numeiro, while Demi takes on Hopkins, who herself had some travel issues arriving late for the event. Despite the nerves, there’s a strong sense of family pride pushing them forward. Demi admitted that not only is she nervous about her own fight, but also about Joey’s. Joey echoed the same feelings, with both insisting they cannot let the Essex name down.

Their fight kicks off the night at around 7 p.m., broadcast for free on DAZN’s YouTube channel before the main card begins. For Demi, it marks more than just a fight—it’s a symbol of her determination to reinvent herself, proving that she can step out of reality TV and into one of the most demanding sports. She summed it up simply: boxing isn’t just a challenge, it’s become a way of life.
