So, here’s some exciting news straight from the world of The Young and the Restless . You might’ve noticed that Elizabeth Hendrickson — who’s best known as Chloe Mitchell — hasn’t been on screen much lately. But don’t think for a second she’s been taking it easy. In fact, she’s been hard at work behind the scenes, and just revealed something major: she's officially stepping into the role of director for the show!

Yep, after more than two decades in front of the camera — starting all the way back with her debut on All My Children as Maggie Stone, and later Frankie — Hendrickson has made the leap to the other side of production. And according to her, this wasn’t a snap decision. She’s actually been quietly learning the ropes for the past 18 months. She’s been up in the control booth, shadowing directors, observing how it all works, and basically soaking in everything she could. At the time, she wasn’t even sure it would amount to anything. But she stuck with it, kept showing up, and — as she puts it — fell in love with the process.

And now it’s official. She took to Instagram to announce that her very first episode as director will air on Tuesday, August 5. And get this — she didn’t ease in with a light episode. No, her directorial debut features none other than two of the biggest icons in soap history: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman). She called it both a privilege and a bit of pressure, but clearly, she was up for the challenge.

She also made a point to thank a long list of folks who supported her through this journey, from the cast and crew at Y&R to producers and mentors at Sony and CBS. One person she specifically highlighted was director Owen Renfroe, whom she called the best mentor she could’ve asked for.

The response from her fellow actors has been full of love. Her former All My Children co-stars chimed in with heartfelt congratulations, and Y&R colleagues like Lauralee Bell and Nathan Owens cheered her on, clearly proud of what she’s accomplished.

So yeah, it’s pretty inspiring to see someone reinvent themselves after 24 years in one role. And it’s not just a career shift — it’s a whole new chapter. If you’re a fan of Elizabeth or just love seeing women stepping into leadership roles in entertainment, this is one to watch. Set a reminder for August 5 — because Elizabeth Hendrickson is officially calling the shots.
