Enola Holmes 3 Promises a Darker, Grown-Up Adventure
Hey, so here’s something really exciting for all the Enola Holmes fans out there. You know how Millie Bobby Brown has been charming us as Enola Holmes for the past five years, getting into all sorts of mischief, solving tricky mysteries, and constantly outsmarting her famous brother Sherlock? Well, the upcoming Netflix movie, Enola Holmes 3 , is shaping up to be quite different from the first two films—and honestly, the change makes a lot of sense.
I recently got the chance to catch up with the movie’s director, Philip Barantini, who talked about what makes this third installment special. He shared that the goal for Enola Holmes 3 was to give the story a slightly darker and more grown-up tone. And no, this isn’t because of his previous work on the hit Emmy-nominated series Adolescence , even though that series was a big deal in 2025. The reason is actually more practical—both the character and Millie herself have grown up. Enola is now 21, just like Millie, so it felt natural for the movie to reflect that maturity. The director said that this new approach really allows the character to step into a new chapter of her life, giving audiences something fresh while still keeping the spirit of the franchise alive.

This isn’t the first time the Enola Holmes films have evolved. Back when Enola Holmes 2 came out, Millie Bobby Brown talked about wanting the character to grow, focusing more on Enola as an everyday detective. That change helped the audience see a different side of her personality, and it seems like Enola Holmes 3 will continue that evolution, only this time with a more adult perspective.
As for the story itself, details are still a bit under wraps, but we do know that Enola will be traveling to Malta to solve a new mystery. On top of that, she’ll be balancing her relationship with Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge. Fans of the franchise will also be happy to know that familiar faces like Henry Cavill, Himesh Patel, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster are all returning to reprise their roles. Production wrapped earlier this summer, so hopefully more details will be revealed soon.
While we’ll have to wait to see exactly when Enola Holmes 3 will hit the screens—likely sometime in 2026—the first two films are still available on Netflix. If you haven’t caught them yet, now’s the perfect time to binge before the new adventure drops. And if you’re looking for another binge-worthy series, Barantini’s Adolescence is also streaming and definitely worth checking out.
So, get ready: Enola Holmes is all grown up, and her next adventure promises to be more thrilling, darker, and definitely more mature than ever before.
