Kendal Calling 2025 Celebrated for Safety, Sunshine, and Standout Sets
So, if you’ve heard the buzz about Kendal Calling 2025, you’re not alone — and honestly, it deserves all the chatter. The festival, held at the beautiful Lowther Deer Park near Penrith, wrapped up just days ago, and while 40,000 people soaked up the music, sunshine, and atmosphere, what really stood out this year wasn’t just the headliners or the vibe — it was how smooth and safe everything went.
Cumbria Police reported what they called an “extremely low” number of arrests — just ten across the entire four-day event. And when you’ve got tens of thousands of people partying in one place, that’s impressive. Those arrests were mostly for drug offences, a few assaults, and one driving-related charge, but nothing that derailed the overwhelmingly positive energy of the weekend.

This marks a drop from the previous year, where 14 arrests had been made, and that’s even with fewer police officers on site this time around. Instead, festival organisers boosted their own private security teams to handle searches and keep things in check. According to Chief Superintendent Matt Kennerley, the shift paid off. He praised festivalgoers for behaving responsibly and enjoying the music without causing issues, though he did acknowledge that some serious incidents did occur and are being thoroughly investigated by specialist officers.
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, chimed in too, saying Kendal Calling is one of the biggest events Cumbria handles — but the county is clearly up to the task. And it showed.
Beyond the security success, the festival was a hit musically and atmospherically. Major acts like The Prodigy, Courteeners, Fatboy Slim, and The Wombats lit up the main stage, while surprise highlights came from side stages, like Will Varley’s set joined by Frank Turner, and the ever-popular silent disco. The weather held up beautifully after a soggy start, and the organisers' focus on sustainability — including amnesty bins, recycling efforts, and reusable cup schemes — made a visible difference.
Even the logistics mostly went off without a hitch, aside from some Thursday morning traffic confusion. Food got rave reviews too (shoutout to the onion bhajis near the old Gandhi’s Flip Flop spot).
All in all, Kendal Calling 2025 wasn’t just a festival — it was a shining example of how to pull off a large-scale event with safety, music, and community spirit at its core. If you missed it, don’t worry — tickets for 2026 are going on sale, and based on this year’s magic, you might want to grab yours early.
