Navas was a familiar face in the world of Malayalam cinema, especially loved for his comedic timing and vibrant stage performances. He started his career in the mid-90s, making his film debut in Chaithanyam in 1995. Over the years, he played notable roles in films such as Mattupetti Machan , Junior Mandrake , and Amma Ammayi Amma . But for many, he was more than just a film actor—he was a performer who made his mark through mimicry and live stage shows, earning his name through the iconic Kalabhavan troupe, which has produced several comedy legends in Kerala.
He was often seen performing alongside his brother, Kalabhavan Niyas, another popular mimicry artist and actor. Their chemistry on stage was always a crowd favorite. Mimicry, for Navas, was not just an entry point into cinema but a lifelong passion. Offscreen, he was known as a warm personality who stayed closely connected to his roots in Kerala's performing arts scene.
Navas is survived by his wife, Rehana, and his brother. The news of his passing has stirred a wave of tributes from the Malayalam film industry and fans across the globe, especially among Malayalee communities in the Gulf, where his stage shows were frequently held and widely loved.
A vibrant talent who could bring smiles with a single gesture or line, Kalabhavan Navas leaves behind a legacy of laughter, performance, and passion for art that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
