Man Shot Dead in Winston Hills as Sydney Faces Another Tragic Shooting
A tragic incident unfolded in Sydney’s west on Tuesday evening, leaving a man dead and police scrambling to investigate yet another shooting in the city. Emergency services were called to Regiment Grove in Winston Hills just after 7 pm following reports of gunshots. When officers from the Parramatta Police Area Command arrived, they were informed that a man had been shot while getting into his car.
It is understood that the victim, believed to be in his 20s, attempted to seek help after being shot. Witnesses reported seeing him walk to a nearby home in an effort to get assistance. Paramedics from NSW Ambulance arrived quickly and treated the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital, but tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries. A crime scene was immediately established, with the Homicide Squad and Parramatta detectives combing the area for evidence. Officers were seen focusing on the driveway where the victim collapsed, while the nearby car, reportedly riddled with bullet holes, was also examined. Neighbors described a chaotic scene, with flashing police and ambulance lights illuminating the street and paramedics carrying the man onto a stretcher. One local teenager recounted watching the events unfold, saying, “I saw red and blue flashing lights reflected on my neighbor’s house, and then we saw a man on a stretcher being carried up into an ambulance.”
This shooting marks the second fatal incident in Sydney in less than a week. On Sunday night, 39-year-old Gilbert Shino was gunned down in Forest Lodge after a violent attack outside a busy pub, while his associate Maradona Yalda was seriously injured. Police are now dealing with a city on edge as two deadly shootings have occurred within a matter of days.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Tuesday’s shooting in Winston Hills to come forward. Tips can be submitted confidentially to Crime Stoppers. Meanwhile, the community remains shaken as detectives continue their investigation, attempting to piece together the events that led to this senseless loss of life.
Sydney, like many major cities, is facing a concerning surge in public shootings, and the focus now is on preventing further violence while supporting those affected by these tragic events. The Homicide Squad has made it clear that this case is a priority, with evidence being meticulously gathered and analyzed as part of a broader effort to restore safety to the area.
