Orlando Bloom Wants Original ‘Pirates’ Cast Back Together

At Fan Expo Chicago this year, Orlando Bloom stirred up excitement among “Pirates of the Caribbean” fans when he shared that he’d love to see the original crew reunited on screen. Bloom, who played the steadfast Will Turner in the blockbuster Disney franchise, said that if there were ever a way to bring back Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann and Johnny Depp’s iconic Captain Jack Sparrow alongside him, he’d be all in.

According to Bloom, the magic lies in the writing. A great script, he explained, would be the key to convincing everyone to return. He admitted that if the story was strong and included the full cast, it would feel like “in for a penny, in for a pound.” That comment really hit home, as it echoed the idea that the series, at its best, worked because of the chemistry among its original stars.

Disney, meanwhile, is actively working on a reboot of the franchise. Rumors have circulated for years about different directions, including a female-led story, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Bloom acknowledged this uncertainty, even questioning whether it would make sense to try creating a new character that mirrors Jack Sparrow. His feeling, though, is that if the writing is excellent, he’d happily jump back on board no matter which direction Disney chooses.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently added fuel to the fire by saying he remains open to Johnny Depp’s return. Although Depp’s Hollywood career slowed down after his legal battle with Amber Heard, Bruckheimer insisted that it would all come down to how the role is written. If Depp likes the part, Bruckheimer believes he could be convinced to return. For him, having Jack Sparrow back would feel essential, even in a rebooted version of the series.

The “Pirates” films have always been a cornerstone of Disney’s modern blockbuster era. Since the first movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl , was released in 2003, the franchise has grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide. While Depp’s Jack Sparrow carried later installments, fans often point back to the original trio—Depp, Knightley, and Bloom—as the heart of the story. That is exactly what Bloom is calling for now: a full-circle reunion that captures the magic of those early adventures.

Of course, the road to Pirates 6 has been long and uncertain. Disney has been developing scripts for years, with screenwriter Jeff Nathanson currently working on one, but progress has been slow. Bruckheimer admitted that the right screenplay still hasn’t been nailed down, though they are getting closer.

For fans, the thought of seeing the original cast together again—sailing across the seas, fighting curses, and navigating betrayal—feels like a dream worth waiting for. And with Bloom voicing his support so clearly, the possibility of a reunion doesn’t seem as far-fetched as it once did. Whether it takes the form of a continuation or a fresh start, the winds of the Caribbean may yet blow the old crew back together.
