Polish F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes During Airshow Rehearsal
A tragic accident has shaken Poland after a Polish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during a rehearsal for an upcoming airshow in the city of Radom. The incident took place on Thursday evening, and sadly, the pilot lost his life in the crash.
According to reports, the jet had been preparing for AirSHOW Radom 2025, one of the country’s major aviation events scheduled for the weekend. The Polish Defence Ministry confirmed that the accident involved an aircraft from the 31st Tactical Air Base near Poznań. In a statement posted online, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz expressed his condolences and paid tribute to the fallen pilot, describing him as an officer who had always served his country with “dedication and great courage.” He personally visited the crash site to oversee the investigation and honor the memory of the airman.
Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka also confirmed the pilot’s death, and Polish news agency PAP reported that the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. local time. The event quickly led to the cancellation of the Radom Airshow, which had been expected to draw large crowds over the weekend.
For many in Poland, the loss feels especially heavy because the F-16 is considered one of the most advanced and reliable fighter aircraft in the country’s fleet.
