Red Sox Call Up Power Prospect Jhostynxon Garcia
Big news is coming out of Boston for Red Sox fans, as the team is reportedly calling up one of their top prospects, outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia, to the major-league roster. Sources say this move will have him joining the team in New York for their series against the Yankees starting Thursday night. The team hasn’t officially confirmed the call-up yet, but all signs point to “The Password”—as Garcia is nicknamed—making his debut very soon.
Garcia, 22, has been making waves in Triple-A Worcester this season. In 66 games, he’s slashed .303/.367/.564, hitting 17 home runs and driving in 56 RBIs, all while maintaining a strong OPS of .931. It’s been a season of growth and consistency for the young outfielder, whose raw power and ability to make contact at the plate have been catching scouts’ attention. Analysts have noted that while his power isn’t elite on the scale of 70 or 80, he’s able to put the ball in the air at ideal launch angles, which has turned him into a legitimate threat in the batter’s box.

His path to the majors has been steady. Signed out of Venezuela in 2019, Garcia has climbed through the Red Sox system alongside his brother, Johanfran Garcia—nicknamed “The Username”—who is also a highly regarded prospect in the organization. Jhostynxon’s promotion comes at a time when the Red Sox are juggling a few roster moves: outfielder Wilyer Abreu has been placed on the injured list with a right calf injury, Abraham Toro has been designated for assignment, and infielder David Hamilton and pitcher Richard Fitts have been recalled from Triple-A Worcester.
Garcia’s versatility will be tested in the majors. While he has mostly played center field this season, he is expected to take on a role in right field for Boston, in part due to Fenway Park’s unique challenges and the current roster situation. His power and contact skills could make him an exciting addition to Boston’s young outfield mix, which already includes Jarren Duran, Roman Anthony, and Ceddanne Rafaela.
Interestingly, Garcia had also been part of trade talks earlier this season, when the Red Sox explored a potential deal with the Minnesota Twins for starter Joe Ryan. While nothing came of that, it shows the level of attention the team—and others around the league—has been paying to this young talent. With his memorable nickname and impressive Triple-A performance, the arrival of “The Password” in Boston promises to add a new spark to the lineup, especially while Abreu recovers from injury.
All in all, Red Sox fans will soon get their first real look at Jhostynxon Garcia in the big leagues, and if his minor-league numbers are any indication, they’re in for an exciting ride.
