Soulshine at Sea 3 Cancelled Amid Artist Withdrawals and Allegations
Hey everyone, I’ve got some news from the music world that’s been making waves lately. The highly anticipated Soulshine at Sea 3 cruise, which was supposed to set sail from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico this November, has officially been cancelled. This event was headlined by Michael Franti & Spearhead, and tickets had actually sold out back in December of 2024. Fans had been counting down the days, but recent events have thrown the entire voyage into uncertainty.
So, what happened? Over the past few days, several artists who were scheduled to perform—including Dispatch, Maggie Rose, Hirie, and Liz Vice—pulled out of the event. The withdrawals reportedly stem from serious allegations of misconduct involving one of the artists on the lineup. Maggie Rose explained on Instagram that she stepped away in solidarity with a peer who had made allegations about another performer. Dispatch shared a similar message, saying that after learning about “deeply concerning public allegations,” they felt it was necessary to withdraw. Hirie and Liz Vice also cited these concerns as their reason for leaving the cruise.

This chain of events appears to connect with long-standing claims made by musician Victoria Canal. She publicly revealed that years ago she was groomed and sexually abused by a much older, powerful figure in the music industry. Canal described the experience as having a lasting impact on her personal life, although she declined to name anyone publicly, citing fear of financial and emotional consequences from potential legal action.
Amid the controversy, Michael Franti addressed his own personal situation. He admitted to a past extramarital affair with an artist who had toured with him, calling it a “regrettable mistake” and expressing sincere remorse for the hurt caused to his wife. He emphasized that the relationship ended years ago and that any subsequent professional collaboration continued after the tour.
Organizers of Soulshine at Sea, the production company Sixthman, confirmed that plans to host the November 4–8 event have been officially cancelled. However, they also noted that a new event is being actively planned, with details expected to be shared soon. So while fans are understandably disappointed, there’s still hope that music lovers will get another opportunity to enjoy a cruise experience with live performances in the near future.
It’s been a stormy week for Soulshine at Sea and the artists involved, but these developments highlight how seriously the music industry is taking allegations of misconduct and the importance of artists standing in solidarity with each other. While the cruise won’t sail as planned, the conversation around accountability and safety in the industry is being pushed to the forefront like never before.
