Star Trek Voyager Game Lets Fans Rewrite the Delta Quadrant

It looks like Star Trek fans are getting another unexpected gift this year. Fresh from Gamescom 2025, a brand-new video game has been announced, and it’s called Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown . Now, this isn’t just another run-of-the-mill Star Trek tie-in. This game is being described as a story-driven survival and strategy experience, and the fate of the U.S.S. Voyager will rest squarely in the player’s hands.

The setting, of course, is the Delta Quadrant — the same mysterious and dangerous region of space where Voyager spent seven long years trying to make its way home. But unlike the show, where Captain Janeway’s leadership charted a single course, this game puts that responsibility on the player. Every decision made will shape Voyager’s story. Will diplomacy win the day, or will aggression be chosen? Will the crew stick to Federation ideals, or will they embrace dangerous technologies like those of the Borg? These “what if” scenarios are being designed to let players reimagine Trek history, and that could mean dramatically different outcomes with each playthrough.

Ship management will play a central role. Voyager won’t simply fly itself — players will have to repair damaged rooms, secure resources, and construct new systems to keep both the vessel and the crew functional. Research will also come into play, with the chance to explore both conventional and risky technologies. How far you’re willing to go for survival is entirely up to you.

Combat and away missions are another major element. Crews will need to be selected carefully, with each member bringing different skills to the table. Sending the wrong people to the wrong mission could spell disaster. Space battles, too, will demand careful strategy, since failing to use crew abilities at the right time might lead to Voyager’s destruction.

The game is being developed by gameXcite, a Germany-based studio, and is set to be published by Daedalic Entertainment, the company recently known for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum . Early information reveals that the title will be single-player only, with rogue-like elements woven into its design. That means no two runs will be the same, and iconic characters might even meet their end early on if mistakes are made.

So far, no official release date has been given, but we do know the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A teaser trailer has already been released, and fans are buzzing with speculation about how deep the alternate history storytelling might go. Could long-debated moments from the series — like the controversial “Tuvix” episode — finally play out differently? That possibility alone has stirred plenty of excitement.

For now, fans will just have to wait for more updates, but one thing is clear: Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown isn’t just offering another chance to sit in the captain’s chair. It’s offering the opportunity to reshape Voyager’s legendary journey through uncharted space.
