Why Percy Hynes White Isn’t Returning toWednesdaySeason 2
So, Wednesday is finally back with season two on Netflix after a three-year wait, and fans have been buzzing with excitement to catch up with their favorite characters—Wednesday Addams, her iconic family, and of course, familiar faces like Enid, Bianca, and Tyler. But if you've already started watching, you might’ve noticed someone is noticeably missing: Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe in season one.
Now, Xavier was a pretty significant character. He had psychic abilities, could bring his artwork to life, and he was sort of a love interest for Wednesday. There was even a dramatic plotline where Wednesday suspected him of being the Hyde, which led to his arrest—only for it to later be revealed that Tyler was the real monster. By the end of the season, Xavier was back, handed Wednesday a phone, and that kicked off the whole stalker mystery. Naturally, fans expected him to return in season two. But he doesn’t.

So, what happened?
Well, after the first season aired in October 2022, some serious allegations were made against Percy Hynes White in early 2023. A user on Twitter accused him of sexual assault, and while the claims quickly gained attention online, Hynes White responded in June of that year. He denied the allegations, calling them a “campaign of misinformation” from someone he said he had never even met. He posted a statement on Instagram saying the rumors were false, and that the situation had resulted in his family being doxxed and his friends receiving threats. He emphasized that scenes of him acting in character were being used out of context and that a friend of his had been misrepresented as a victim.
Despite denying the claims and expressing gratitude toward those who supported him, Hynes White later confirmed he wouldn’t be returning to the show. About a year after the controversy, he shared a photo with the season one cast, thanking the team and saying he looked forward to watching season two.
In terms of the show, they do briefly explain Xavier’s absence. In the first episode of season two, it’s mentioned that after he was wrongly accused of murder, his father pulled him out of Nevermore and transferred him to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland. His dad also pulled financial support from the school, which creates space for Morticia Addams to step into a bigger role. Later, Xavier sends Wednesday a drawing of a red-eyed crow as a farewell gift, hinting it might be connected to her. And just like that—he’s gone.
It’s a quiet but definitive send-off, closing the door on a character that once played a pretty major role in Wednesday’s story.
