AFLW Round 4 Showdown: Carlton vs Western Bulldogs
Hey everyone, let’s talk about the upcoming AFLW clash between Carlton and the Western Bulldogs this Saturday at IKON Park—it’s shaping up to be a memorable game. After last week’s Round 3 win over Brisbane, Carlton has finalized their Round 4 lineup, and there are a few exciting updates to share.
For Carlton, this match is particularly special because Maddison Torpey is set to make her AFLW debut. It’s always thrilling to see a player step onto the field for the first time, and Torpey’s family, friends, and teammates will be eagerly watching. Mia Austin will return to the side, but Lila Keck has been omitted this week. Unfortunately, Jessica Good won’t be taking the field after sustaining a calf strain last round. To cover any last-minute changes, Carlton has named Aisling Reidy, Lou-Lou Field, and Lila Keck as emergencies. The first bounce is scheduled for 3:05 pm AEST, right in the heart of Melbourne at IKON Park.

Turning to the Western Bulldogs, they’ve also made a couple of changes ahead of this Round 4 Indigenous Round match. Captain De Berry will finally take the field after missing the first three rounds with a hamstring injury. Kaylee Kimber returns following a calf complaint, and Emma McDonald is now cleared to play after her shoulder injury. Their inclusion comes at the expense of Sarah Poustie and Analea McKee. De Berry, McDonald, and a few others like Cleo Buttifant, Dom Carruthers, and Ellie Gavalas will start on the bench.
This match is doubly significant for the Bulldogs as it marks Ellie Blackburn’s 75th AFLW game and Alice Edmonds’ 50th. Milestones like these are always celebrated, and they add a layer of emotion and pride to the contest. Both teams will be wearing their special 2025 First Nations guernseys, designed by Kamilya Lowana White, which celebrate reconciliation and honor the Club’s Indigenous players and heritage.
The match will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo Sports, so fans across the country can tune in. It’s expected to be a tight contest, with both teams bringing strong lineups, some exciting debutants, and seasoned veterans reaching career milestones.
All in all, Saturday’s clash promises action, emotion, and a real celebration of AFLW talent, culture, and history. Whether you’re cheering for the Blues or the Bulldogs, it’s definitely a game you won’t want to miss.
