Browns Rookie Quinshon Judkins Set for Debut vs. Ravens
The Cleveland Browns are bringing some fresh energy into their offense this weekend, as rookie running back Quinshon Judkins is officially set to make his NFL debut against the Baltimore Ravens. The announcement came after the Browns activated him to the 53-man roster on Saturday, removing any lingering questions about his availability for Sunday’s big matchup.
Judkins, just 21 years old, was drafted in the second round this past April and comes with a strong college résumé. In 2024, during his only season at Ohio State, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and played a key role in the Buckeyes’ national championship run. That type of performance had Browns fans eager to see him in action, and now the moment has finally arrived.

What makes this debut even more intriguing is the backdrop leading up to it. Judkins wasn’t part of training camp or preseason, largely because of off-field issues that began with his arrest back in July. The charges of domestic violence were later dropped after prosecutors determined that a conviction was unlikely. Still, the absence left him behind in his preparation. He only signed his rookie contract on September 6 and just this past week practiced with the team for the first time since minicamp. On top of that, he also met with NFL officials as part of an ongoing review under the league’s personal conduct policy.
Even with the late start, Cleveland clearly sees him as an important piece of their offense moving forward. According to NFL Network reports, his workload will be carefully managed on Sunday, with limited snaps expected as he works his way into game shape. Essentially, he’ll be eased in as a backup option, but his presence alone brings a spark to a backfield that badly needs it.
That need was highlighted in Week 1, when the Browns struggled to establish any sort of rushing attack in their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The team managed just 49 yards on the ground across 24 attempts, a number that won’t win many games in the AFC North. The Ravens’ defense is no easy test, but even a small boost from Judkins could help Cleveland find more balance.
The move to activate him also came with a tough roster decision. To make room, the Browns waived wide receiver Gage Larvadain, who had impressed during the preseason. The expectation, however, is that Larvadain will likely be re-signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers, which would allow Cleveland to keep him in the mix.
So here we are: a rookie with big talent, a team in need of a lift, and a divisional showdown against a fierce rival. All eyes will be on Judkins as he steps onto the NFL stage for the first time, and while his role may be limited at the start, the Browns are hoping it’s the beginning of something much bigger.
