Meanwhile, Raife Hastings—played by Tom Hopper—shows just how far war and betrayal can twist a man. His interrogation of a captured enemy slides into outright torture, complete with knives, chemicals, and the kind of cold detachment that signals he’s crossing a line he may never return from. When the captive reveals he isn’t just a terrorist but actually connected to German intelligence—a supposed ally—Raife is left questioning everything. Was he torturing an enemy, or just another pawn in a game no one fully understands?
The episode delivers a gut punch in its final act. After Ben and Eliza fight their way free and steal a car, there’s a rare glimpse of tenderness between them. They laugh, listen to music, and share the kind of moment that could have belonged to a couple on their first road trip. But fate has other plans. A sudden car bomb rips through their vehicle, killing Eliza instantly. In the haze of smoke and shattered glass, Ben manages to fight off the attackers, but the loss is written across his face. He collects the suitcase with the bearings, but also takes the charm from Eliza’s wrist—a keepsake from her daughter.
