Edmonton’s Top Mayoral Candidates Set for High-Stakes Debate
Edmonton is about to witness one of the most anticipated moments of this year’s municipal election campaign. On Friday night, the city’s leading mayoral hopefuls will step onto the stage for a live debate that promises to showcase not only their platforms, but also how they perform under pressure.
The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Global News, is hosting the 2025 mayoral debate at the JW Marriott hotel downtown. Tickets for the event sold out quickly, a sign of just how closely residents are watching this race. According to the most recent Leger poll, the five candidates who will take part are Tim Cartmell, Rahim Jaffer, Andrew Knack, Omar Mohammad, and Michael Walters. Shaye Ganam, the host on 880 CHED talk radio, will be joined by Doug Griffiths, the president and CEO of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and a former MLA, along with Chris Huebner, president and CEO of Lloyd Sadd Navacord. Guiding the evening as moderator will be Carole Anne Devaney, anchor for Global Edmonton.
