Five PSG Stars Shine in Ballon d'Or 2025 Top 10
The spotlight of world football has turned to Paris once again. At the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony held at the Thé'stre du Ch'stelet in Paris, the names of the ten finalists for the most prestigious individual award in football were confirmed. And the news could not have been brighter for Paris Saint-Germain fans—five of the top ten are, or were recently, wearing the PSG jersey.
These five include Ousmane Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who lifted the Champions League trophy with Paris in May before making his summer move to Manchester City. Their inclusion shows not only the depth of talent PSG gathered in its European-winning squad but also the individual brilliance that defined their season.
What makes this moment even more striking is that PSG is the only club with such a strong representation in the top 10. Barcelona follows at a distance, placing two players—young sensation Lamine Yamal and winger Raphinha—among the finalists. The rest of the list features elite names across Europe: Kylian Mbappé, now at Real Madrid; Cole Palmer of Chelsea; and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool.

It is worth noting how PSG’s European triumph on May 31 played a decisive role in shaping this outcome. Performances that stood out during knockout matches in the Champions League seem to have carried significant weight in the voting. Donnarumma, for instance, had been extraordinary in PSG’s run, pulling off game-saving stops against Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal. His later transfer did not diminish the recognition of his Parisian heroics.
The ceremony itself has become a true celebration of both team and individual excellence. Beyond the Ballon d’Or, other trophies were also awarded. Donnarumma received the Yachine Trophy for best goalkeeper, his second after 2021, while PSG coach Luis Enrique was honored with the Johann Cruyff Award for best manager, reflecting the club’s historic season with five trophies.
Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal confirmed his status as one of football’s brightest stars by collecting the Kopa Trophy for best young player under 21 for the second year running—a first in the award’s history. On the women’s side, Vicky Lopez of Barcelona made history by winning the inaugural Kopa Féminin, while England’s Sarina Wiegman was recognized as the best women’s team coach after leading her side to Euro glory.
In many ways, the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony has highlighted a passing of the torch. Icons like Messi and Ronaldo are no longer part of the shortlist, and instead, new names—many still in their early twenties—are emerging as the future of football. Yet at the heart of this year’s top 10, PSG’s dominance stands tall, confirming the Parisian club’s ability to combine collective success with individual brilliance on the grandest stage.
This year, more than ever, the Ballon d’Or conversation has been colored by the impact of Paris Saint-Germain’s unforgettable European campaign.
