So here’s something you don’t hear every day. While the gaming world is buzzing with excitement over Grand Theft Auto 6, Steven Ogg—the actor who famously brought Trevor Philips to life in GTA 5—says he feels absolutely nothing about it. That’s right, the man behind one of the most chaotic and memorable characters in the entire series has admitted he isn’t the least bit interested in Rockstar’s next big release.

In a recent chat with YouTuber HarrisonShippp, Ogg was asked how hyped he was for GTA 6’s launch. His response was blunt: “I feel nothing inside.” Now, before anyone takes that too literally, he clarified that it wasn’t a cry for help—it was specifically about video games. Ogg explained that he’s not a gamer, never has been, and doesn’t really see the appeal. To him, acting in GTA 5 was just a job, not a gateway into the gaming community.

That’s a pretty stark contrast compared to fans who are calling GTA 6 the biggest release in gaming history. Rockstar itself has already said they expect it to be the largest launch the industry has ever seen, and players have been speculating on every detail—from maps to characters—for years. But Ogg? He’s content to leave all that hype to the gamers.

Instead, Ogg has a very different passion: books. During the same conversation, he mentioned that someone suggested he should finally play GTA 5. His reply was almost philosophical. He said, “Why? One day you should read Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment .” The person he was speaking to, unsurprisingly, had no idea what to say back. Ogg even doubled down, comparing excitement over GTA 6 to excitement about a 19th-century Russian novel. For him, reading is where the real action is.

Now, whether you find that pretentious or refreshing probably depends on your perspective. On one hand, it’s odd to see such indifference from someone tied so closely to a franchise as massive as Grand Theft Auto. On the other, Ogg is clearly drawing a boundary—he’s not Trevor in real life, and he doesn’t want to be treated like the character every time the series makes headlines.

It’s also worth remembering that not every actor immerses themselves in the medium they work in. Some get deeply involved, playing through the games and engaging with fans. Others, like Ogg, see it as a role—do the performance, move on, and leave the fandom to the players. Neither approach is wrong, but it does explain why he’s on such a different wavelength compared to Rockstar’s audience.

And honestly, there’s a bit of irony here. Dostoevsky’s protagonist in Crime and Punishment , Raskolnikov, is a deeply conflicted, unstable character who wouldn’t feel entirely out of place in a GTA story. If he were alive today, he’d probably have a lot to say about GTA 6. But Steven Ogg? He’s already made it clear—he’ll stick to the books.
