Harry Potter Audiobooks Add Major Stars to Full-Cast Series

The wizarding world is about to sound more magical than ever. Audible and Pottermore Publishing have just expanded the cast for their ambitious project, Harry Potter: The Full Cast Audio Editions . This is a brand-new, seven-part audiobook adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels, and it isn’t just any ordinary audiobook series. Instead of a single narrator, each book is being brought to life with the help of more than 200 performers, creating what promises to feel like a fully immersive audio drama.

Some major names have just been announced for this magical ensemble. Kit Harington, known from Game of Thrones , will take on the flashy and famously incompetent Professor Lockhart. Keira Knightley, celebrated for her work in Pride & Prejudice and Pirates of the Caribbean , is stepping into the stern and sinister shoes of Professor Umbridge. James McAvoy, who audiences know from X-Men and His Dark Materials , will be lending his voice to the ever-watchful Mad-Eye Moody. And comedy favorite Simon Pegg will bring warmth and wit to the role of Arthur Weasley.

They’re not alone. Ruth Wilson is set to voice the unhinged Bellatrix Lestrange, Iwan Rheon will take on the complicated Professor Lupin, and Ambika Mod will portray the quirky Nymphadora Tonks. Add to that Gemma Whelan as Professor Sprout, Leo Woodall as Bill Weasley, and Matt Berry as the knightly Sir Cadogan, and it’s clear this is shaping up to be a star-studded affair.

James McAvoy even shared his excitement about the project, saying he was “thrilled” to embody Moody, describing the character as layered, battle-hardened, and unexpectedly wise. According to him, capturing that mix of toughness and heart was “incredibly fun.”

This latest casting joins an already impressive lineup announced earlier. Hugh Laurie will voice Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen is stepping in as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed will portray the icy Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez is Professor McGonagall, and Cush Jumbo has been cast as the series’ narrator. Even Hagrid, Lucius Malfoy, and Dobby have been cast, along with younger actors set to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione across different stages of the series.

The first audiobook, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , is scheduled for release on November 4, 2025, exclusively on Audible. The rest of the series will follow on a monthly schedule, rolling out through spring 2026 and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in May.

This project is being described as the most expansive Harry Potter audio experience to date. With hundreds of voices, familiar stars, and fresh talent, it seems the magical world readers fell in love with years ago is being reimagined in a way that feels bigger, bolder, and more alive than ever. Fans who thought they knew every detail of the books may soon hear Hogwarts in a way they’ve never experienced before.
