My Kitchen Rules 2025: A Season of Flavour, Family and Fierce Rivalries
The heat is back in the kitchen as My Kitchen Rules returns in 2025, and this season is shaping up to be one of the most entertaining yet. The show has always been about more than just food – it’s about culture, family, personality, and of course, a little bit of drama around the dinner table. With six diverse teams stepping up, each bringing their own story and flavour, viewers are in for a mix of heartfelt moments, bold clashes, and unforgettable dishes.
Guiding the way once again are chefs Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge, whose camaraderie and sharp critiques have become central to the series. Both judges emphasise that the magic of MKR lies not in fine dining but in honest home cooking. Manu has pointed out that the contestants this year are showcasing new recipes, techniques and traditions, making the competition feel fresh and exciting. Colin, on the other hand, has warned us to expect strong personalities and even some controversial dishes that could divide not just the table, but perhaps the entire audience.

Among the standout teams are Justin and Will from New South Wales, best mates who bonded through family ties and now bring South African and Tongan influences to the table. Their rustic, hearty meals promise big flavours and plenty of banter. Then there’s Anne and Maree, a Greek mother-daughter duo from Victoria, who see food as a way of honouring their late matriarch and sharing the joy of heritage, love and laughter with everyone who sits at their table.
From Victoria also come Michael and Rielli, a couple whose dynamic combines bold, meat-heavy dishes with elegant, patisserie-style desserts. They balance each other out – he brings the hearty flavours, while she delivers finesse and sweetness. Over in South Australia, friends Maria and Bailey are entering the competition with fire and determination. She’s a self-taught baker with her own cookie business, and he’s a straight-talking former ballet dancer – together, they create a sibling-like energy that is bound to keep things lively.
Queensland is represented by childhood besties Lol and Lil, who describe themselves as chaotic, bubbly and playful. Their food reflects global influences, while their personalities ensure plenty of fun at the table. Rounding out the teams are cousins Mel and Jacinta from New South Wales, who focus on wholesome, nutritious cooking. Their Mediterranean-inspired, health-conscious meals aim to prove that vibrant food can still pack bold flavour without losing its nourishing qualities.
The season promises to be a real melting pot of heritage, passion and creativity. For Manu and Colin, the fundamentals will still matter most – things like seasoning, balance, and restraint – but what will ultimately win hearts is the connection between food and story. Contestants will have to prove not only their skills in the kitchen but also their ability to adapt under pressure.
As the competition unfolds, the strongest teams will make it to Kitchen HQ to battle for the $100,000 prize and the title of MKR champions. My Kitchen Rules 2025 premieres on Channel 7 and 7plus at 7.30pm, Monday, September 1st – and it’s clear this season will deliver a feast for both the palate and the emotions.
