Netherlands Unveils Junior Songfestival 2025 Jury

The Netherlands has officially revealed who will decide its entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting selection. The announcement was made by broadcaster AVROTROS, and both expert voices and young perspectives will play a role in picking the next act to step onto the international stage in Tbilisi, Georgia.

As always, the winner of Junior Songfestival will be chosen through a combination of three factors: votes from an expert jury, votes from a children’s jury, and televoting from the audience at home. This three-way system has been in place since the contest first began and is designed to balance professional opinion with the views of young fans and the general public.

The professional jury this year features three well-known names from the Dutch music scene. Singer-songwriter SERA , who first gained attention by posting covers online and has since released her own successful music, brings a modern and fresh perspective. Joining her is Hannah Mae , a rising star in Dutch pop who has scored chart hits and is known for both English and Dutch-language songs. Rounding out the panel is Billy Dans , who has made his mark as both a performer and a songwriter for other popular Dutch artists. Together, these three represent a mix of experience and creativity that will guide the competition.

On the children’s jury, familiar faces are returning. Veronika , who finished second in last year’s Junior Songfestival, will bring her contestant’s perspective. Alongside her are Stay Tuned , the group that represented the Netherlands at Junior Eurovision 2024 in Madrid. Their participation ensures that young voices with recent contest experience will be part of the decision-making.

Four acts are in the running this year. They are: ICONIC with “Don’t Touch” , Level Up with “Rule the World” , Meadow with “Freeze” , and the duo Coco & Tove with “Strong Girl Summer” . All four will perform live at the grand final on September 20 , held at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam. Only one of them will be chosen to represent the Netherlands in December’s Junior Eurovision.

Looking back, the Netherlands has a long and proud history at Junior Eurovision. The country has competed every single year since the contest began in 2003, making it the only nation with a perfect attendance record. Their biggest success came in 2009 when Ralf Mackenbach won with “Click Clack” . There have also been close calls, like in 2011 when Rachel narrowly missed out on victory. However, there have been tougher years too, such as 2021 when the Netherlands placed last.

Most recently, in 2024, Stay Tuned carried the Dutch flag in Madrid with their song “Music” . They finished tenth overall, earning 91 points. While not a top result, it was still a performance that kept the Netherlands firmly in the game and gave the young performers valuable international experience.

Now, all eyes are on the upcoming live final. The new jurors have been revealed, the competing songs are out, and the excitement is building. On September 20, a new Dutch act will be chosen, and soon after, they’ll begin their journey to Tbilisi to represent their country at Junior Eurovision 2025.
