NTAs 2025 – TV’s Biggest Night Celebrates 30 Years

The National Television Awards 2025 have officially taken over London’s O2 Arena, and it’s safe to say this 30th anniversary edition has lived up to all the hype. From the red-carpet glamour to emotional wins, this year’s NTAs have once again proven why it remains one of the most-loved nights in UK television.

The ceremony kicked off at 8pm, broadcast live on ITV1 and streamed on ITVX, with host Joel Dommett taking the reins for the fifth consecutive year. He promised the show would be “bigger and better” than ever before, and the atmosphere certainly reflected that. From the opening performance by McFly belting out Queen classics to heartfelt speeches that had fans in tears, the energy was unmatched.

Viewers tuned in to see some of Britain’s biggest names in entertainment—soap stars, reality favourites, comedy legends, and drama heavyweights—all waiting anxiously to see if their names would be called. Unsurprisingly, Ant and Dec’s long-standing dominance in the presenter category faced serious challenge this year. For the first time in decades, it was Gary Lineker who walked away with the Best TV Presenter award, breaking their 23-year winning streak. Alison Hammond and Claudia Winkleman, both nominated, were cheered on heavily by fans, proving how much the presenting landscape is shifting.

Drama categories were especially fierce. Netflix’s Adolescence , already a major talking point in 2025, secured Best New Drama, with actors Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper praised for their intense performances. Meanwhile, Brenda Blethyn kept Vera firmly in the spotlight, continuing her reputation as one of Britain’s most respected drama stars.

Soap operas brought their usual dose of emotion, with EastEnders’ Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) winning Best Serial Drama Performance. His reaction on stage was heartfelt and left the audience standing in ovation. Over in the Returning Drama category, Call the Midwife once again proved its popularity, scooping the award against stiff competition from Heartstopper and Slow Horses .

Comedy and entertainment had their own moments of celebration too. Michael McIntyre finally bagged The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award with his Big Show, earning loud cheers and a standing ovation. Over in factual entertainment, Clarkson’s Farm triumphed, with Jeremy Clarkson cracking jokes even as he collected the award. Reality TV fans saw I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here crowned the winner for Reality Competition, while Strictly Come Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent lit up the Talent Show category.

But beyond the winners, the NTAs are always about the spectacle—Elizabeth Hurley turned heads with her red-carpet look that had fans buzzing online, Stacey Solomon shared an emotional post about simply feeling grateful to attend with her family, and the Emmerdale cast swapped farm gear for glamour.

Tonight’s NTAs not only celebrated the best in television but also marked three decades of British TV magic. With a mix of nostalgia, fresh talent, and unexpected wins, the 30th National Television Awards will be remembered as one of the most exciting yet. And for those who missed it live, the full ceremony is already available on ITVX to relive every glitzy, emotional moment.
