Panda Mart Opens First Canadian Flagship in Toronto
A major retail arrival is shaking things up in Toronto. Panda Mart, a global discount chain known for offering everything from home goods and furniture to novelties and décor, has chosen the city as the location for its very first Canadian flagship store. What makes this particularly exciting is that it’s not just Canada that’s welcoming Panda Mart for the first time—it’s the entire North American market.
The new store is set up in Scarborough at 768 Warden Avenue, right in Toronto’s busy east end. At a massive 120,000 square feet, the location is designed to be a true one-stop shop, carrying over 30,000 different products under one roof. While a soft opening was quietly held on September 23, the official grand opening is scheduled for September 26, when shoppers can finally see the full scale of what Panda Mart is bringing.

Panda Mart’s story started in South Africa, but over the years, the brand has grown significantly. It now operates 40 stores across 12 different countries, including Australia and New Zealand. Toronto marks its latest step forward, and according to global real estate adviser Avison Young, this flagship provides a key entry point into the Canadian market. The area chosen for the store is described as a thriving, mixed-use neighborhood, surrounded by shopping, dining, and residential spaces—making it an ideal match for a large retailer. Accessibility was also an important factor, with the store positioned near public transit, the Don Valley Parkway, and Highway 401. On top of that, there’s plenty of on-site parking, so it’s expected to draw big crowds.
The opening of Panda Mart comes during a busy season for Toronto retail. Just in the past month, several other major stores have launched in the city. Simons, for example, recently unveiled its 112,000-square-foot flagship at the Eaton Centre, designed around boutique-style zones and filled with exclusive Canadian collections. Winners has also expanded with a new 40,000-square-foot store at Scarborough Town Centre, while Bestco Fresh Foods added another grocery location downtown on Peter Street.
All of these openings point to a wave of growth in Toronto’s shopping scene, and Panda Mart’s arrival adds an international flavor to the mix. With its sheer size and variety of products, the new store is expected to become a major destination for local shoppers looking for both affordability and variety.
So, for anyone in Toronto—or even nearby cities—it looks like Scarborough is about to become the go-to spot for a shopping trip that can cover just about everything. And with Panda Mart officially launching its Canadian presence, Toronto is once again proving itself to be a top choice for global retailers entering the North American market.
