These tools are currently in beta, and a waitlist has been opened for publishers who want early access. The idea is pretty straightforward: help publishers reach Reddit’s more than 110 million daily active users while also improving the experience for readers who want to dive into conversations around the news.

So, what do these tools actually do? There are three main features. First, publishers will be able to see insights about how their articles perform on Reddit—things like which communities are sharing them, how many views and clicks they’re getting, and how audiences are engaging. Second, publishers can set up an automatic feed import, so their articles flow right into Reddit Pro and are ready to be shared. And third, there’s an AI-powered recommendation system that suggests which communities might be the best fit for each story, so the right readers see the right content.

Some big names in media, including NBC News, The Atlantic, The Associated Press, and The Hill, have already been testing these tools. The Hill’s team even shared that Reddit has become their top source of social referral traffic. They credited Reddit Pro for helping them directly connect with readers and create real conversations around their journalism—something they hadn’t been able to do before on the platform.

Alongside these tools, Reddit is also testing a smoother way to read articles within the app. Instead of clicking away to a website, users can view an article directly inside Reddit and then just swipe up to join the comment thread. This makes moving between reading and discussing much more natural, and it keeps the focus on community-driven dialogue.

The broader goal is clear: Reddit wants to position itself not just as a place to discover stories but as a hub for discussion around them. Publishers get a chance to grow their audience, while readers get more opportunities to interact with the people and outlets producing the news.

Applications for the beta are now open, and publishers who sign up could be accepted within a few weeks. Reddit is also bringing this announcement to the Online News Association Conference in New Orleans, where they’ll be offering training sessions and discussions to show how these tools can be used in practice.
