Warwick Davis Returns to Hogwarts for New Harry Potter TV Series
Hey everyone, you’re going to love this one if you’ve ever been a Harry Potter fan. Big news has just come in: Warwick Davis, the beloved actor from the Harry Potter films, is officially returning to Hogwarts—but this time, for the new HBO television series. He’ll be reprising his role as Professor Filius Flitwick, the charming and talented Charms teacher we all know and love. This makes him the very first actor from the original film franchise to step back into the Wizarding World for this exciting small-screen adaptation.

Warwick Davis isn’t just known for playing Flitwick. He also portrayed Griphook, the goblin working at Gringotts Wizarding Bank, in the films. For the TV series, however, the role of Griphook will be played by Leigh Gill, who you might recognize from Joker and its sequel. This change allows the series to cast fresh faces while still honoring the legacy of the original movies.
A whole host of new cast members has also been revealed during the annual “Back to Hogwarts” celebration, which, as fans know, takes place on September 1st every year—the day Hogwarts students traditionally return to school. Among the new recruits, Elijah Oshin will play Harry Potter’s friend Dean Thomas. Finn Stephens and William Nash will take on the roles of Draco Malfoy’s sidekicks, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. And, of course, the young lead roles are being played by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.
The series will also feature some impressive Hogwarts staff. Sirine Saba has been cast as Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as the ghostly Professor Cuthbert Binns, and BrÃd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey. Joining them are fan favorites John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. With such a talented lineup, it’s clear the series is aiming to capture both the magic and the depth of the original books.
Filming is taking place at the iconic Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, the very location where all eight Harry Potter films were shot. HBO has emphasized that the series will remain a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels, giving the story more time to breathe than the films ever could. The plan is ambitious: the entire project is expected to take a decade to complete, with the first series scheduled to premiere in 2027.
So, whether you’re excited to see familiar faces like Warwick Davis back on screen, or curious about the new generation of young wizards, this series promises a magical journey that will explore the Wizarding World like never before. Hogwarts is coming back to life, and it looks like it’s going to be spellbinding.
