Camp Crystal Lake Comes to Life at Palm Coast’s “Hall of Terror”

Every Halloween, Palm Coast transforms one of its fire stations into something truly chilling — and this year, it’s taking fear to a whole new level. The city’s beloved “Hall of Terror” has returned, this time welcoming guests straight into the eerie world of Friday the 13th and the infamous Camp Crystal Lake. The annual haunted house event, hosted at Fire Station 21, is not just a simple walk-through — it’s an immersive horror experience that’s become one of Palm Coast’s biggest Halloween traditions.

Inside the station, the iconic yellow “Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake” sign sets the tone. From there, guests have no idea what’s waiting around each dark corner — or where Jason might be lurking. The event runs for two nights, October 30th and 31st, from 7 to 10 p.m., and admission is completely free. Every year, thousands line up outside the fire station for a chance to be part of the fright. According to Fire Lieutenant Dan Driscoll, who has been leading the effort since 2012, the event attracts nearly 7,000 visitors across its two-night run. “We do it over the course of six hours total — which is pretty incredible,” he said, proud of the effort his team puts in each year.

Groups of five or six people are allowed inside at a time to explore a maze of eerie corridors filled with jump scares, eerie lighting, and movie-inspired set designs. What started years ago as a small neighborhood display at a former fire chief’s house has now grown into one of the city’s most anticipated Halloween experiences. Since 2010, it’s been hosted at Fire Station 21, drawing both locals and visitors from nearby towns.

This year’s Friday the 13th theme is a special treat for fans of the horror franchise. Driscoll shared that each room in the haunted maze pays homage to different films in the series — from Jason’s resurrection in Jason Lives to a “Jason Takes Manhattan” inspired room that promises a surprise twist. “It’s the first time we’ve ever done something this immersive,” Driscoll explained. “We’ve got things happening both inside and outside the station this year.”

The event isn’t just about scares — it’s about community, too. Dozens of volunteers, including firefighters and city staff, come together to build, decorate, and run the experience. Food trucks line up outside so visitors can grab a snack while waiting their turn. For guests sensitive to loud noises and flashing lights, there’s even a special sensory-friendly hour from 6 to 7 p.m. each night.

As Driscoll put it, “It’s a free show — come have fun, grab some food, and enjoy a good scare.” Whether you’re a die-hard Friday the 13th fan or just looking for a thrill, Palm Coast’s Hall of Terror is the perfect place to face your fears this Halloween — if you dare.
